The problem with "The Secret"...

Have you heard about “The Secret”?

It’s the phenomenon that’s been sweeping the country ever since Oprah gave it her blessings about a year ago.

“The Secret” includes over 20 “gurus” in the areas of personal development who have all contributed to the book and DVD.

Do you know “The Secret”?

The Secret is the Law of Attraction.

According to “The Secret”, everything you have in your life, you’ve attracted to you. Good or bad, it doesn’t matter. You attract everything into your life by the way you think.

This is true for everyone. Everyone on our planet.

According to “The Secret”, those starving kids in Africa have attracted their situation to themselves.

Also, according to “The Secret”, the 6 million Jews who died in the holocaust attracted their fate to themselves.

Sorry, but I just don’t buy it.

There are many things in “The Secret” that I do buy into, but to take everything offered without sound thinking is foolish.

The biggest problem I have with “The Secret” has to do with the following.

Repeatedly throughout the book and DVD, we are told that all we have to do is ASK, BELIEVE, and RECEIVE.

We have to be clear about what we want. Once we’re clear, we can ask for it.

After asking, we have to believe that it is coming to us. The Universe will set up the people, events and circumstances to make what we asked for a reality.

Finally, we have to feel good now. The more we do, the quicker we will receive what we ask for.

The biggest problem I have with this whole way of thinking is that the most important of all qualities aren’t even discussed.

There is little to no mention of the magic word.

The magic word is ACTION!

In my world, you can meditate all you want. You can believe all you want. But until you take ACTION, you will not get the results you want in your life.

BUT, that’s not what the folks from “The Secret” are saying. And I believe it is a tragedy to lead people on to think that just asking and believing is nearly enough.

Do you want to have success in your life? Lots and lots of it?

If you do, then you need to be prepared to take MASSIVE ACTION to make your dreams a reality.

Having clear goals is important. “The Secret” talks about that.

Having a positive attitude is important. “The Secret” talks about that too.

You just need to take it one step further, and understand that until you commit to taking MASSIVE ACTION, you will not get your desired results.

My mentor and good friend, Harv Eker from Peak Potentials Training has said it over and over. Action is the bridge between your thoughts and your feelings, and your results.

Don’t get caught in the trap “The Secret” has laid out. Remember that until you are prepared to take ACTION, asking and believing will never be enough.
